The Egyptian religion is polytheistic, which means that they are devoted to many gods. The Egyptian religion, like most religions, fuses with other religions and mythologies when it comes to the creations of deities. The building of temples ensured the preservation of the divine order. The gods played very important roles in the daily lives of Egyptians and the statues were viewed as good luck charms that helped them in their daily lives to avoid disaster. In life, there were over 2,000 gods in the Egyptian pantheon. But, in death, the main focus was put on Osiris.
Egypt was one of the few civilizations who gave so much importance to the afterlife and for this reason, we know so much about their behavior in life.
The Egyptians view of the universe was a very open topic. However, many creation myths surfaced from numerous religious centers and surprisingly, they didn’t contradict each other. In the ancient world, Egypt was one of the most powerful civilizations of the ancient world, and even Greek writes Herodotus thought so.
