Thebes is an egyptian city which is now known as Luxor. Thebes is known as the city of the dead, as well as the city of a thousand gates because of all the columns that marked the entrances to all the temples. The patron god of the city is Amun Re, or the hidden one. The Egyptians gave thanks to Amun-Re for saving them from anarchy and foreign invasions. he was attributed as the divine protector of the land.
