Heka

God of magic. Responsible for the creation of the “primordial hill”. The mistress of magic and guardian to the sun good as it is said in the Book of Gates. Heka is represented in the form of a woman. Along with Sia, who is also a goddess of magic, battled a serpent known as Apophis. They would do this every night while the sun god made his trip to the netherworld in the nighttime. One of Heka's main roles in the Book of Gates is to be the sun god’s indispensable guardian. The word heka on its own means magic, as well as being the name of the goddess of magic, as well as writing and speech. Magic is also known by the word akhu, which literally translates to "soul" and is typically used to describe magic after death.  Source: Egyptian Mythology A to Z
