Orpheus was a musician, son of Apollo and a Muse. He played music beautifully and got married to Eurydice, who was killed by a snake. Broken-hearted, he went through the underworld by playing his music. This even moved Hades, who decided to get Eurydice back to life.
She would come with him as long as Orpheus did not look back before getting to the world of the living. While he was arriving to the entrance, he looked back and could see her being dragged to the underworld.
